Description: Flynt came to us from the shelter, and we don't know much about his background as he was picked up running loose. It is painfully obvious that he was not well cared for, though. Flynt came in with terrible skin problems, was very underweight, and was just generally in rough shape. It looks like Flynt has spent most of his life outside, he has calluses and rough spots from laying on the concrete, and he initially seemed uncomfortable coming in the door.

Flynt is now in the care of a loving foster, and is gaining weight, and learning to be a good house dog. His skin problems are a simple flea allergy, and just keeping him flea free has eased his itching and his coat is already growing back in. Flynt enjoys sleeping on the bed in his foster home and likes to sleep on his back, with his head on a pillow! Our vets estimate Flynt to be about four years old, as his teeth are in great shape and he has lots of energy. We did discover that Flynt has a condition called dry eye, and will require eye drops twice a day for life. The medication is inexpensive, and Flynt does well getting his meds.

Flynt gets along beautifully with other dogs and people. Unlike most dogs that have been strays, Flynt is still very easy going, accepts handling well, and does not seem to have developed any fearfulness or aggression. We were told by the shelter that he was protective of his food, but so far we have not seen this behavior. We suspect that they may have seen this because Flynt was so hungry and stressed in the shelter environment. He takes treats nicely and even seems to know how to sit for a treat.

Flynt really is a friendly, easy going sort, and will make a great companion. He does like to jump, so if you are looking for an agility pug - he just might be your guy! His picture doesn't do him justice, he is very handsome even as bedraggled as he was, and with a full coat and some pounds on him, he will be absolutely gorgeous! Please contact us for information on how to meet Flynt. . . Update - 11/20/09 Flynt is still doing very well, but his foster reports that as he has gotten comfortable, he is somewhat protective of treats and other "high value" items. We suspect this is a leftover behavior from being on the streets and hungry for so long. We feel Flynt would be best in a home with adults or older children who know how to respect a dogs' space while they are eating. This is certainly an issue that could be addressed with some training, and since Flynt is such a sweet, awesome boy in every other way - he would probably do very well with training and obedience.
