Christmas Party 2009
The Christmas Party at Harry Griffen Park was a wonderful success. Everyone was delighted at the turnout. Even though the
wind was blowing and the temperature was freeeeezing we had a great time. The Barbecue was terrific.
The hot food just hit the spot. Photos with Santa were just the cutest. All the Puggies had the chance
to run and play off leash in the fenced in area of the park. Many people had the chance to purchase
unique items at our boutique and the raffle for the ipod was super. Pug Rescue of San Diego appreciated the
donations for specific items and also the general donations that were received. We have taken in more
Pugs this year than ever before and truly are thankful for any financial help.

Thanks to all of you Friends of Pugs who have done so much to help us get through this financially
trying year. We wish you a most joyous Holiday Season and a healthy and prosperous New Year.
Foster Homes Needed
Funding Needed
Pug Rescue of San Diego is in great need of Foster homes to care for the Pugs that are relinquished to
us. Usually we place approximately 45 Pugs a year. As of July 15, this year we have received 61 Pugs. (We are now over 80 pugs)
If you can help us out please contact us thru our hotline 619-685-3580 or Email us at
pugsandiego@yahoo.com
A volunteer will contact you and give you the information you need to begin the process to volunteer
as a Foster home.
Our Foster families are the heart of our organization. Without them our efforts would fail.
Currently 16 Foster families care for our older or infirm Pugs. Many of the Pugs we receive are
seniors or need significant medical help for the rest of their lives. Pug Rescue of San Diego is
committed to the care of any Pug, no matter the age or medical condition. Those Pugs under these
circumstances are termed Long Term Fosters. Pug Rescue of San Diego will care for them for the
rest of their lives.
Understanding the above situation, we unfortunately are extremely low on funds. As the economy
declines so have our finances.
Please hear our plea - Donations are needed to continue the care
that we have always been known to give.
You may make a donation thru Paypal by clicking on the button below.
See the Fundraising page for other ways you may help PRSDC.
Thank all of you for your continuing support.

Meet Ladybug. Long Term Foster. She was surrendered at 16 years old! Imagine, a dear, sweet
old pug relinquished at that age after giving her family devotion and love for so many, many years!
Ladybug's family could no longer afford to properly care for her. Although she came from a home, she
had been kept outside, by herself, much of her life and was in dire need of veterinary care. When
Ladybug came to SDPR, she was immediately taken to the vet. Her mouth was full of rotted, decaying
teeth, she had a stubborn urinary tract infection, arthritis and deafness in both ears. The vets
pulled 15 teeth, put her on pain medication and antibiotics. When she went to her foster parent's
home that evening, she became terribly ill and had to be rushed to the emergency hospital for
additional treatment. Ladybug is now thriving in her foster home - she takes daily, short walks, lives
inside - where pugs belong - and has a pug brother to play with. Her medical care is ongoing
however. She needs arthritis pills along with glucosamine and medication for a collapsed trachea.
Ladybug's current medical costs are well over $1,000.00. Please help us support Ladybug by sending a
special donation to keep this sweet little bug healthy and comfortable in her old age.

Meet Cornelius (aka Corny). Long Term Foster. He was rescued in June when he was found roaming
the streets of Temecula on a hot summer day. We don't know how long this boy, scared and in pain,
wandered around blind and alone. When he was found, his eyes were crusted shut and his decaying teeth
and infected ears caused him to whimper in pain. Corny was taken to a nearby vet who kindly cleaned
up his eyes, but could not provide a long-term home for him. SDPR was called and came to his aid!
No dog deserves to be dumped in the streets and left all alone to find food, shelter and water -
especially not a 10 year old, blind, deaf gray-faced boy! After Corny was placed with a SDPR foster,
he was immediately taken to the vet for a thorough checkup for his eyes, teeth and ears.
Corny is now being cared for by his foster parents the way all old dogs deserve - in comfort, with
food to eat, love and a snuggly bed to sleep in. Corny requires daily eye drops to help his dry eye
condition; he uses a doggy door and gets around very well once he has been shown around. Corny loves
to roll around on his fleece blanket and lovingly look up at you with his big brown eyes; he ignores
the cats and gets along with the other dogs. He enjoys his walks in the cool of the evening - he may
not see the flowers, but he loves to smell them! Corny is available for adoption to someone who would
open their heart to this sweet old boy who just needs daily eye drops, occasional slow, short-distance
walks to keep him in shape, a good diet, and a place to lay down and keep his forever parents company.

Meet Joey. He has been cared for by loving foster family and is gaining weight
and is ready for his forever home. He is 10 years old and lots of fun. Joey needs a family who
will continue with routine training to help him become a good household citizen. If you have
the love and time to work with this wonderful boy please contact us. Joey is considered as
a long term foster as he is 10 years old. He is doing very will and would make a great addition
to any family. He is not on any meds and enjoys playing and also relaxing with his foster family.
